The Wall People Page 17

“I can’t wait to tell you all about it, Camellia. It’s quite the tale,” Katie whispered back.

The family said their goodbyes as they made their way back into the van. They slowly headed down the driveway, and onto their way to school.

Hand in hand, the two lovers walked back to the cabin in the woods. They happily sat down together on the old porch swing, where Katie rested her head against Daniel’s strong shoulder. Gently, he pushed back the auburn curls from her forehead.

“Any ideas for our honeymoon, my love?” Daniel asked softly. Katie smiled up at him.

“Anywhere I am safe in your arms will be absolutely perfect,” she sighed.

His dark blue eyes widened as he said, “I think Holland’s a good place to start. I’m long overdue for getting you a pair of wooden shoes for your pretty feet,” he grinned.

His beautiful smile brought the dimples out onto his face. They looked at one other lovingly and laughed happily together.

“Now don’t forget, my love, I promised you a ride on the back of a zebra. Do you recall?”

“I do,” Katie smiled brightly at the memory.

He gazed into her eyes and drew her close. He kissed her with an unbridled desire, tracing his fingers down the hollow of her neck, stopping momentarily to touch the golden locket hanging between her breasts. His lips followed where his hands caressed. The sensation sent chills down the base of her spine. She was utterly lost, and in love. Drawing her even closer, Daniel whispered passionately against her soft lips, “They say the sunsets in Africa will take your breath away….”
